New York City Travels

Posted by Ndre on Sep-3-2010

And that isn’t an empty boast.

New York City, hailed as the city that never sleeps, fondly known as the Big Apple, is home to approximately eight million people and with the population still expected to rise in the years to come. New York City is touted as the center of the world maybe because each part of the globe has left an indelible mark in this place. From food to works of art to culture exhibits to tourist spots, whatever it is you want your senses to take pleasure in, New York City most probably has it.

Hotels : This is one of the common problems that travelers encounter when setting foot on foreign land. In New York City, however, you need not worry that you won’t be provided with the kind of services you expect to receive. If you’re the artsy type fond of bohemian living then you’ll probably love to stay in New York City’s Greenwich Village or downtown Soho. If you’re a yuppy and you’re attached to your PDA learning about the stock market, then you’ll feel right at home in New York City’s famous Wall Street. If posh places however are what takes your fancy then take a ride to downtown Manhattan and see for yourself what the Hilton or the Four Seasons Hotel has to offer.

Dining : Whether it is sashimi, pesto pasta, kimchi, shawarma or paella that you’re looking for, trust me when I say that New York City has everything that your taste buds may want to savor.

Nightlife : The hottest places in the U.S. can no doubt be found in New York City. If you’re fond of star-gazing and I’m not talking about those that you can find in the sky, then definitely, New York City is the place to be. Go club hopping and rub elbows with the rich and famous.

Tourist Spots : With so many points of interest to visit in New York City, it’s sometimes quite difficult to just know where to start. But of course, we’ll try our very best. A visit to New York City wouldn’t be complete without touring the following sites:

Empire State Building : Need I explain?

The Statue of Liberty : take a ferry ride to this gigantic statue, a gift to the United States from the French government some centuries ago.

Madam Tussaud’s Wax Museum : now, now, now, don’t you start believing that what you saw in Paris Hilton’s House of Wax is based on a true story. This particular site was even featured in Ripley’s because of the uncanny resemblance of its…err…inhabitants.

World Trade Center : Now, I know that technically speaking, this isn’t a happy place but it would do all of us good to pay our respects to the victims of the September 11 bombing. This tragedy has at least proved that the people of New York City wouldn’t let any terrorist attack faze them into cowering in terror. Hail, hail New York City!

Now, remember that New York City, for all its bright lights, can’t be compared to a bed of roses. So take the necessary precautions to avoid unnecessary accidents. It’s also easy to get lost in NYC so be sure that you always have a map—and a cellphone preferably—handy, just in case.

Happy sight-seeing!

The Taj Mahal is an enormous burial chamber of white marble, built between 1631 and 1648 by order of the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved wife. Taj Mahal means “Crown Palace”; one of the wife’s names was Mumtaz Mahal.

The Taj is one of the most well conserved and architecturally gorgeous tombs in the world, one of the masterpieces of Indian Muslim structural design, and one of the enormous sites of the world’s heritage. Besides being a remarkable city, Agra has sunglasses of modernity as is characteristic of any Indian city. Tour to Agra city of architectural wonders and see the mesmerizing Taj Mahal. You can see the attractive Taj mahal. Agra city is not only an alleged tourist destination but also a shopper’s ecstasy. It offers breathtakingly fine-looking handcrafted items that are made of pure leather. Agra is also famous for the replicas of Taj Mahal.

Travel a little external Agra and you’ll come to Fatehpur Sikri, a site for monuments that are traditionally as imperative as the Taj Mahal. If you see the monuments at both will you have begun to explore Mughal structural design. Fatehpur Sikri’s tourist attractions include monuments from the times of Akbar the Buland Darwaza and the Dargah of Salim Chishti.

The first time you travel to Agra, the city can be a bit appealing with its noise and big crowds. There are government run and private tourist information centers in great quantities and you should take improvement of them. Most of them offer tour guide services, which is useful if you’re stuck in an Indian city, predominantly if you’re low on knowledge about its head of state attraction.  However, no matter how many times you’ve done Agra and the Taj Mahal, their attraction never fades. If you’re an old Agra hand of course, you’ll be quite at home in this crazy bustling town.

The next summer will come and one may still be thinking and wondering, what do I do this year with my vacation time. Do I stay at home, or do I go somewhere to a nice place of my own choice for some beautiful relaxing time, experiencing something different and much more exciting, than just going every day to work and pay my bills.

But it is often still the case, that

1. People are not used to go on a vacation and also don’t know really, how to do it.

2. People go on vacation, but always do the same, not realizing, that there are so many different ways to travel, and to experience different things, that it actually never can get really boring. And that the relaxation with some new and other experienced adventuress and fun, will give everybody the special magic enjoyment and happiness every other year again.

3. Many of us are so involved in their daily problems, debts or other, that they cannot even think about going on a vacation, and it is completely out of their own world. The wrong attitude is, to do the vacation so-called “at home”, where everything is the same for every day all year long, so that a real relaxation with new impressions, fun and lots of adventures can absolutely not occur. These people never come really out of their own trap.

Let’s look at, what a real awesome vacation can bring you:

You should go for your vacation time to an area, which seems exciting enough to you and can give you all the choices for your personal likings, so that you can have some incredible happy time somewhere, what is completely different from at home. Then, coming back from there and start doing the usual, you will feel the new gained spirit and power of relaxation, and everybody may look at you as having become a different person. You will never ever regret of having gone on an outstanding trip. But you have to make sure from the beginning, that your vacation has enough variety. If it is a beach, that there are also some other very exciting things happening, you really like doing a lot. Just feel completely excited about your plans and go !

What types of choices do you have?

You can break all the different vacation possibilities down into the following activities:

An exotic ocean environment with beaches and lots of awesome climate, real surf and fun, and participating in many different other water activities. Going to a lake, to do something similar, but with no surf and you will get your relaxation while having much less tourism around you. You can otherwise undertake a trip to the mountains and experience some beautiful and joyful nature, getting your body exercised with marching and climbing. Or do your visit to a city with lots of history, where you can see the attractions from the past, feeling and experiencing all the atmosphere of it in the real time, being there. Finally you can also book for a cruise ship and travel around the oceans, exploring the exciting environment and all the feelings involved on a big ship.

Off course, all these different choices can get mixed somehow. Like going to the mountains can also give you several adventuress choices for swimming in a lake or pool. The same is with a cruise ship, where swimming pools are available on all the decks, and you can swim and sunbathe all day long, having drinks and conversations. Though getting to a beach area can give you snorkeling, scuba diving, surfing, parasailing and many other water activities. Shopping centers, restaurants and movie theaters you will find in all these bigger places anyway. There will be never any shortage of it.

I hope, that I have given you some good idea, how you can find to your vacation. It is you, who has to get out of the daily trap, stepping into a different reality of life and become more excited about things, and not being bored at all. Life is too good, than just wasting it with office work, personal problems and sitting all the time at home.

City-Traveling Is Only Pleasure And Fun

Posted by Ndre on Aug-22-2010

Today, traveling brings most of the fun, if you decide for one of the better so-called worldwide and easy to-get-there travel opportunities. Nothing is really bothering anymore, the difficult figuring out of your own accommodations for your travel is over. You just pay for your flight, hotel and food, and the travel agency will give you everything enjoyable and perfect, and not make you upset at all. Your personal joyful experience with all the relaxation you can possibly get, is what they want you to accomplish. The competition became already too strong and way too big. They also understand, that you as an individual normally don’t know a lot about traveling and how it all works, arranging all that. So everything from them is perfectly planned, and they just give you the ticket. You only have to know, how to get to the airport and how to put your seat belt on.

How do you now wisely choose your travel destination correctly, so you can get to the best place of your choice ?

Best today you should already start, to walk around in your city and find some decent travel shops, where you can check from outside on their displays and find out, if it seems for you attractive enough, so you would like to arrange your travel with them. This is a very important step. Maybe I’m a bit picky, but for me personally is the decoration in a travel shop somehow very important. And so, first of all, I perform this short evaluation. I compare their used imagination for their display, with their possible ability of having (or not) some incredible travel offers available. I always make my personal travel arrangements only in a very attractive place, where I can feel the real thrill and can get really spiny about Hawaii, Acapulco Mexico, or whatever my biggest dream might be. But I do not say “more expensive” ! But in such a store you will much more easily find the destination you really like, and all the needed arrangements fit just perfectly together, so as the price might be completely fine as well.

Don’t hesitate or play around, with booking, buying or paying it the same day !

The best place and the most beautiful room to the right time are available right now, so why making the big mistake, with trying to book and pay it at a later time. It might not be available later anymore and you can very feel bad, because of that. For an entire year you might be stuck, not have gotten your most desired hotel room. You should talk a bit with your family already during the year, where they would like to go for a vacation, or whatever they like most. Then, one day you can surprise them all, with the present of having booked and paid for the special vacation destination of their dreams.

Specially a family trip needs some work and more attention. So please make sure, you arrange it all in a way, which works for all of you best.

5 Tips for Planning Your New York City Vacation

Posted by Ndre on Aug-18-2010

New York City is one of the most popular destinations for travel and tourism in the continental United States. Often referred to as “the greatest city in the world”, New York is home to some of the most diverse cultural centers and experiences to be found. With so many options, it’s easy for visitors to the Big Apple to feel overwhelmed. If one has only so many days to experience NYC, how should they be spent?

Here are 5 tops from a NYC native for how to make the most of your trip to New York City.

Tip #1 – Timing is Everything

New York is an exciting city, with a new photo opportunity on every corner. Areas like Times Square and the Theatre District are home to some of the most well-known images of NYC. While they feature some of the finest NYC hotels, they are also home to a large population of working New Yorkers, and are located very close to a major NYC transportation center (The Port Authority). Wandering these sidewalks and taking photographs is best done after 10AM and before 4:30PM, outside of city “rush hours”. Lingering too long on a sidewalk during rush hours is a good way to get swept up in the current of people walking to or from their places of employment, and possibly elbowed out of the way. While most New Yorkers are happy to have a thriving tourism industry, tourists must also respect the fact that not everyone is on vacation today. Read the rest of this entry »

Christmas spirit grips Viet Nam’s big cities

Posted by Ndre on Aug-10-2010

No need to wait until December 25, one can easily sense Christmas coming to many big cities in of The whole country is singing Christmas carols together.

The streets and buildings in Ha Noi have been lavishly decorated with Christmas trees, reindeer, presents, and so on. Windows are framed with multi-coloured lights, and Christmas songs float through hallway speakers. Gift-shopping and present-wrapping have been in full swing

Walking along Hang Ma Street in Hanoi, Nguyen Hoang Yen browses through colourful ribbons and decorative balls to pick out several favourites. After finally taking a package of tiny bells and golden balls, Yen also picks up wrapping paper imprinted with Santas and the unmistakable phrase “Merry Christmas”.

Although Yen’s family is not Christian, she says a Christmas celebration has been their custom for several years.

“My children simply assume Santa Claus to be a Western Buddha and they can wish not only for luck, but also for various gifts,” she says

Hanoian Ngo Truong Sinh, who recently married a Christian woman, says he often went to the Christmas Eve mass even before he met his wife.

Sinh and his friends often visited churches in Ha Noi on Christmas Eve merely to join in with the atmosphere of the crowd, take a couple of pictures and have fun together.

After twice accompanying his wife to observe rituals in the Cua Bac Church, he said he felt a deeper respect for Christmas and its meaning.

“My feelings are now quite different,” he said. “Despite my lack of religious obligation, I feel more excited about Christmas than ever before and consider the holiday part of my life.”

Christmas seems to have become a special occasion for the whole community, which can be obviously seen by what is going on in Hue these days. Read the rest of this entry »

As an island known for its vibrant tropical energy and diverse entertainment options, Aruba is one of the best destinations in the Caribbean to experience live music. The capital city of Oranjestad is known as a hotbed of Caribbean jazz and latin music, as numerous clubs and concert halls host live bands throughout the year. Even outside the main tourist areas of Oranjestad, live music can be heard in restaurants and on the beaches. The island is also home to major music festivals, the Aruba Soul Beach Music Festival – an annual event held each May that showcases internationally-renowned soul and R&B artists – and the Aruba Music Festival – a two-day festival that welcomes top-selling classic rock groups, up-and-coming superstars and lesser-known regional artists. While events like the Aruba Music Festival are staged throughout the world, few festivals can boast the event’s unique combination of big-city entertainment and inviting Caribbean atmosphere.

Though only in its 8th official season, the Aruba Music Festival has already lured an incredible array of top-selling performers. Prior to becoming the Aruba Music Festival, the event was known as the Aruba Jazz and Latin Festival. Developed in the 1980s to showcase the Caribbean region’s rich musical tradition, the Aruba Jazz and Latin Festival was expanded and renamed in 2002. Though the Aruba Music Festival was created as a way to present top international touring acts, the festival has remained true to its roots and continues to offer performances by jazz and latin artists from throughout the Caribbean region. Congestion in the big city: Learning from London

Los Angeles (L.A.) and London have many things in common, but as alike they are, they are drastically different. These great metropolises’ have done a great deal in the realm of transportation, pollution, and congestion. While London has set the standard in congestion control, and public transportation, L.A. is still clinging to an archaic network of freeways, highways, and roads. L.A. is one of the fastest growing areas in the United States with a projected population growth of another six million residents by 2025.  With so many people, it can take hours to go just a few miles (SCAG, 2000).

The main issue is that the greater L.A. area in Southern California is still using a freeway system from the 1950’s, adding to polution, stress, congestion, and increasing the regions depedancy on oil. Dispite the fact that traffic and polution are some of biggest issues being voiced by the voters, the local government does not seem to interested in making headway in the field of mass transit (Mittelstaedt, 2008).
